July 13th - 26th, 2013

Hi Everyone!

Owen and I returned on Tuesday from six amazing days in Kansas visiting Kate, Noah, Roger and Joy. We had a great time together, like always. Noah teased us that the volume and pitch of our voices goes up ten notches when the three of us get together. :) We spent the first day driving down to our old place in Strong City and doing a quick drive around town before heading to Burdick to see some dear friends of ours.

Our dear friends, the Senne Family. Joy and I stayed with these folks on the weekends during our time in nursing school.

 More dear friends, the Buchmans

One last dear friend, Penny, our horse still in Kansas. It was the sweetest thing to see her come to the three of us girls when we called her. Apparently, she won't do this for just anyone. It was neat to see that she remembered us after so many years.

Of course the highlight of the trip was getting to meet my first nephew ever, Roger, and for him to meet Owen. Roger was enthralled with Owen and wanted to do grab and claw him, must be a baby-bonding thing. :)

Several wrestling matches over that week. We took waaaay too many pictures of those two while we were there!

 Auntie Joy with the babies!

Our old homestead in Kansas where I grew up. The folks who bought it to retire in seem to be thoroughly enjoying the place. It was good to back, and hard too. Lots of memories of Mom and all the wonderful times we had together as a family.

I had forgotten how BEAUTIFUL Kansas is! Especially in the summer when everything is green and the sky is so big.

Owen just as cute as can be!

Owen played Gilligan and Roger was Captian Hook. So sweet!

The day after I returned from Kansas, a very special brother came to visit! Jonathan has been away in the Navy since January, so he got to meet Owen for the first time! He came bearing birthday gifts for Blake and Seth of navy uniforms for each of them...they were thrilled!

 Getting geared up!

I mean, does it get any sweeter than this?!

Seth's drill sargent impersonation  :)

Well, I better wrap this up as we are getting ready for leaving for the beach this Saturday. We get to go with the Fox side of the family on the annual beach trip for a week. Yay! It will be a great break for all of us.

Hope you all are doing well!

June 27th - July 12th, 2013

Hi Everyone!

The summer time busyness is in full swing around here. It feels like we have had a lot going on. Here's a few of the highlights...

Owen hits the 4 month mark! He is just as pleasant and happy as can be. He is kind of like Blake was in that he is very interactive and loves people.

It has been raining a whole lot the past month or so and the boys' little pool gets refilled all on it's own. I sent the boys outside to play, only to discover them later in the pool and using their boots for buckets.

We had a great 4th of July. Micah got a 4 day weekend to spend with us, which was great! The boys were fascinated by the little fireworks we got.

Seth running for cover after the fuse was lit!

Over the weekend we got to do something Micah and I have been wanting to do for several years...go to the North Carolina zoo! I didn't know how the boys would hold up for the whole day, but they did really well. We got there when the doors opened at 9am and left when they closed at 5pm. Whew! We were exhausted!

Lunch break down by the lake.

They had a special exhibit at the zoo this month of dinasaurs. It was really cool. Very life-like; sound effects, moving parts and all. So life-like in fact, that Seth was convinced they were indeed alive.

Seth had to be held for a few of them. Several times he would ask, "Can we move back a little bit?"

Still uncertain. :)
 Wiped out for the day!

We had a big birthday around here on Wednesday! Blake turned 4 years old.

Blake got some gear for his bike. He was strutting all over the house in those things. Seth did okay with it being Blake's birthday and not his. He is such a follower of Blake that he just enjoyed watching Blake play with his new toys. It helps that Seth's birthday is not far away.

Blake was perfectly okay with being the center of attention for one whole day. :)

This coming Wednesday, Owen and I are making a much anticipated trip to Kansas to see Kate, Noah and Roger. I can hardly wait to meet him for the first time and get my hands on that little guy. It will be sweet to see Roger and Owen interacting. You can be praying for smooth traveling on the plane. :)

Blake and Seth-isms...

Seth was asking Blake about when we take our lunch outside to eat. Blake trying to explaining what the correct term for it said, "Seth, it's called a PIG-nic!"  :)

During our morning prayer time at the breakfast table we usually go around and each pray. One day Seth felt led to pray, "God, please help the weather to feel better."

Here is a cute video of Micah playing with Owen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dn6macjk8U

Hope you all are doing well!

Love,
