June 7th - 21st, 2013

Hi Everyone!

We've been busy the last few weeks, but thankfully the last several days have slowed a bit and it's beginning to feel more like the lazy summer days that we enjoy so much.

 New picnic table!

 Oscar approves  :)

We got to attempt an event downtown where Micah got to sing in a talent show. Here's Blake and Seth watching in awe as a friendly police officer showed them some of the gear on his belt. They were watching with mouths-open-amazement. Micah did a great job singing! You can watch his song on youtube.com at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOH3E5GbRVA. You can hear me in the background telling Blake to sit down. :)

We to have Uncle Will come visit last weekend. Blake and Seth got a kick out of running and jumping on his bed in the living room. Seth is telling Will that it's his nap time here.

For Father's Day we grilled some steak (a real treat around here). We celebrated the day before by going to an indoor shooting range so Micah could try out a new handgun he's been saving for.

Will brought a special friend, Beckah, with him. It's been a pleasure to get to know her! She's a dandy (as Pappy would say).

Did I mention steak is a treat around here?

Here's the latest pictures of our little man. He's sooo sweet! I just love him to death! He smiles all the time and lately has been fascinated with his feet.

Looks like I'm going to have to add some "Owen-isms" soon. Probably one of my most (potentially) embarrassing moments ever...yesterday I got to go out to coffee with the Fox ladies and we were window shopping in a very quaint little shop. Poor Aunt Celia had the misfortune to be holding Owen at the time when he had a major diaper malfunction which got on Celia, Celia's shirt, his clothes and left a sprinkling over a rather large area of the shop floor. Thank goodness, we were able to clean it up before the watchful shopkeeper even noticed! Whew! I think that would have embarrassed me a lot more with our first baby, but after already having two boys before him I think my embarrassment threshold has grown more that I ever imagined.  :)

On Father's Day we headed out to the Fox's place after lunch to get some practice in on the new gun. Blake and Seth had to bring their wood rifles too, of course. So we had the whole Fox arsenal there. Just in case you are wondering, the guns you see laying on the ground are the toy guns. ;)

Blake and Seth were eating it up. They LOVED being out there with the big guys and their guns!

Uncle Jesse diligently supervised the shooting with Dad's BB gun.

A little quality time with "Gan Gan".

A few Blake and Seth-isms:

Seth - "I was covering my ears to not look"   :)

Why little boys get such a kick out of running around the house in the nude, I will never know. After talking to one of my friends the other day I was relieved to find out that Blake and Seth are not the only little boys that like to go running around the house naked once in a while. This is another one of those things that I do not know how it got started. Every time I get Seth out of the tub and we are on the way to their room to get dressed, he asks "Can I run nakey-boy?". Every once in a while I will give permission for a few quick laps and off they go at full speed ahead! (I decided against posting a picture of this)   :)

Seth in the tub the other day was scubbing his head to lather up some bubbles and when he got finished, he said "There! Does that look cumptable?" (comfortable)

Blake watches us ew and aw over Owen and likes to try and be a big boy by imitating us when he talks to Owen. The other day, Owen was making some cooing noises and Blake said, "Aw! Listen, Owen is cooing like a tree."    (have no idea where the tree comes in, but oh well!)  :)

In other news, I hear from Jonathan about once a week or so and he is doing well. He finishes A School on July 19th and then will have some processing before he will move to where he will be stationed. Sounds like he's doing very well in his classes.

We are thinking about trying some camping this summer, but we might not be that adventurous. We'll see. :)

Hope you all are doing well!

Love,

Kari, Micah, Blake, Seth and Owen

May 25th - June 6th, 2013

Hi Everyone,

We got a special treat the weekend before last when we found out Grandma Ensmenger and Grandma Betty was going to be in the area and could come meet us. It's been about two years since I saw them last, so it was great to spend some time together again. We drove down to the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte and spent the afternoon touring and talking.

Owen didn't last for the picture. Too much excitement for one day.

Strawberry season is now over. We went for the third and last time last week. I think we picked a total of almost 35 pounds of berries this season! That should do if for the next year, goodness!

Look how big our "Little Man" is getting! You can see that he starting to get more and more of his own look. He no longer looks like a copy-and-paste of Seth's baby pictures. If you ask me, I think he's looking more like the Shoemaker side.

He is so alert now and insists on being up where he can see what's going on in the world. He loves to watch Blake and Seth play and make noises. He just smiles and smiles at them.

We've had a lot of rainy days lately, so I thought I would post some pictures of Blake and Seth's indoor activities.

Here's Seth taking his animals to the grocery store. Can you see the bin he put under the horse? Yup, they went to the store then to the office to "make some sales" like Daddy. :)

I think his nose is what's looking more Shoemaker-ish.

Owen is reaching for and playing with toys now although, it still takes a bit of concentration to get his hands to do what he wants them to.

Joy and Kate have asked me what I think is unique about Owen. One thing I'm noticing is that Owen seems to be more dramatic and expressive. When he cries he makes the most pitiful face you've ever seen and when he smiles his whole face lights up.

See how pitiful?  :(

Well, I was trying to remember some Blake and Seth-isms from the past two weeks. But, here's  couple...

Blake as been making up words of his own lately. Sometimes I wonder if he thinks that we are just making up the words we are teaching him. He asked me this morning, "Mommy, do you know what gooba means?" Me- "Nope, sure don't" Blake- "It means, negatory"   Alllrighty, then.

I was telling the boys the other day about when I was a little girl and Blake said "Oh yeah, I remember that". After I explained to him that he couldn't have remembered it because I was still little and hadn't had him yet. He said, "Was I in Aunt Kate's belly because you were too little to have me?"   :) Oh dear, we have a long ways to go.

We are enjoying our summer so far of get-togethers, working around the house and, for the boys, getting to go to the train park has been a highlight. Hope you all are enjoying your summer too!

Love you all,

Kari, Micah, Blake, Seth and Owen
